Different scientists associated with fluid mechanics gave us various important concepts about this subject such as Archimedes investigated fluid statics and buoyancy and formulated his famous law known now as the Archimedes' Principle, then Isaac Newton for viscosity, Evangelista Torricelli invented barometer, and Blaise Pascal gave hydrostatics’ principle etc. Like other mathematical model of the real world, fluid mechanics also makes some basic assumptions about the materials being studied. These are namely conservation of mass, law of conservation of energy and conservation of momentum. It is often useful at subsonic conditions to assume a fluid incompressible in which the density of the fluid does not change. Various liquids can often be modelled as incompressible fluids, whereas gases cannot be. Besides these, fluids are assumed to obey the continuum assumption according to which fluids are considered to be continuous rather than discrete. Consequently, properties such as pressure, temperature, density and velocity are taken to be well-defined at infinitesimally small points, and assumed to vary continuously from one point to another.
